The McSAM Awards were created in 1979 by the Sales and Marketing Council of the Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas in recognition of Sales and Marketing excellence. The prestigious McSAM Award is given to Builders, Developers and Associates who have made a significant and creative contribution in residential marketing through specific achievements during the year.

In 1992, the Texas Association of Builders launched the Texas Star Awards - the only statewide tribute to excellence in the home building industry. In 2005, this remarkable awards program expanded to include projects throughout the Southwest. The Star Awards continues to showcase the outstanding work of builders, remodelers, architects, designers, sales professionals, marketing professionals, construction professionals and industry leaders in Texas and the Southwest!

The Star Awards is part of the Sunbelt Builders Show and includes states from across the Sunbelt region of Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. With more than 75 categories to choose from and hundreds of entries each year, it is an impressive feat to be identified as a finalist, let alone a winner.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Dallas, the largest home builders association in Texas, honored Prosper-based Dave R. Williams Homes, LP for their extraordinary work in archietcural design at ceremonies held at the Westin Galleria Hotel on November 4.

The coveted Vesta award was given to the firm for "Best Architectural Design" for work on their model home located in Prosper's Whispering Farms subdivision.

"When you consider how many custom homes are built in the Dallas area each year by good home builders and designed by very talented architects the fact that our home stood out before an independent panel of judges is truly exciting," said Dave R. Williams, the owner of the firm.

The local company was also a finalist in multiple categories including "Best Kitchen", "Best Entry/Foyer", "Best New Home", and "Best Master Bath".

The company was also one of two nominees for "Custom Builder of the Year".

"There are literally hundreds of builders in the Dallas market and to be one of two nominees as Custom Builder of the Year is very gratifying," Williams said.

"The Vesta award winners represent a virtual "Who's Who" of the best in the local and regional home building industry," said Bob Morris, executive vice-president and CEO of HBA Dallas. "They lead the industry in developing new ideas and designs, as well as applying the advances in building science and technology into their individual projects."

The Town of Prosper last week named Gary Castleberry of Dave R. Williams Homes as the town's builder of the year.

According to Bryan Ausenbaugh, chief building official, this is the first year for the town to give an award to recognize Prosper-area homebuilders.

Ausenbaugh said consistency with daily operations, having permits displayed at the time of the inspection and ensuring any prior corrections were complete were used as part of the criteria for the award.

Castleberry "always has the job ready for inspection," Ausenbaugh said. His inspections by town staff "passed on the first attempt more than any other builder in town."

Castleberry has been with Dave R. Williams Homes for three years and has been in the construction industry for over 25 years.

He said the award was very special to him because of "the number of builders" active in the Prosper market.

Town officals surprised Castleberry with the award during Dave R. Williams Homes regularly scheduled staff meeting.

"I was surprised. I had no idea", said Castleberry.

"Don't let size fool you," Ausenbaugh said of the inspection department in Prosper. He said the community has one "of the highest qualified inspection departments in the state." He said that means Castleberry's accomplishment is quite a feat.

Gary has proven himself time and time again," Ausenbaugh said. "If all our builders were to be proficient with their professions our job would be easy.

"We are extremely proud of Gary," said Dave R. Williams, owner of the home building firm. "But we are not surprised. He is a consumate construction professional and he lives everyday our commitment to being the best home building company in Collin County."
